Synchronicities, and Jumping Time-lines: How to Know When the Universe Has Your Back

If you’re anything like me, new experiences and opportunities feel wonderful but they also take me out of my comfort zone and into the land of white-knuckle, heart-palpitating anxiety. And every once in a while, in the midst of all the fear and self-doubt, something wonderful happens - an unmistakable sign that I’m on the right path.

I just returned from NWTS, North West Tarot Symposium where I experienced two of the lovely synchronicities that affirm and confirm when you’re on the right road and the Universe truly does have your back.

I arrived at the conference on Thursday night after an exhausting trip, delayed plane, and general joy of travel during a Mercury retrograde. On Friday, the first day of the actual symposium, I awoke feeling tired and crazy nervous. The following day, Saturday, I would teach a Tarot class at NWTS for the first time. Even on the first day I could see the classes were much larger than I had anticipated. And although I’ve taught large dance classes, I’d never taught a Tarot class to more than 8 people at a time. I’d never used PowerPoint … and I was terrified.

I decided a little meditation was in order to calm my nerves. While meditating, I kept getting this image of a hexagon shape and a bee. For no reason I could fathom, I felt fascinated by the honeycomb shape. I finally dozed-off for a much needed nap, still contemplating the hexagonal structure of honeycombs. I woke feeling refreshed and decided to walk around the hotel parking lot to stretch my legs. As I walked, the anxiety returned full force. I didn’t have enough hand-outs. What if the PowerPoint didn’t work? What if my class sucked? Then, amidst all these worrisome thoughts, I caught a glimpse of something. Just ahead of me was a car with a bumper-sticker.

The bumper sticker?

A yellow hexagon with a bee in the middle.

I burst out laughing. And suddenly, I knew the class would go fine. People could share the hand-outs and Mercury retrograde or no, the PowerPoint would work. Since the title of the class was “Jumping Timelines with Tarot”, I knew this little timeline jump – an hour or so into the future – was Spirit’s way of telling me to stop worrying. I was exactly where I was supposed to be.

The class went great. The students loved it and I discovered that I enjoyed teaching a large group and was still able to make personal contact and keep people engaged and excited even using PowerPoint format. Of course I was also quite happy when the class was over and I could fully relax, celebrate the experience, and just enjoy the rest of the conference and the wonderful people there.

Sunday was the last day and found me feeling both tired and inspired. During our lunch break, I walked over to a little Japanese bento place to get a simple rice and veggie bowl. I was seriously over the rich hotel food and attempting to stay on budget. It’s one of those places where you place your order and they give you a number for your table.

My number?

78 of course. The number of cards in a Tarot deck. I’m sure the other patrons of the restaurant wondered why I laughed out loud when I got my number … maybe they thought I was crazy. But this little numeric coincidence filled me with the feeling that it’s absolutely not crazy to follow your dharma even if other people don’t always get it.

Oh, and that picture of my number? When I cropped to a 1:1 aspect ratio it in Photoshop … it randomly rendered at 777 pixels by 777 pixels. Holy Cow!

Have you ever gotten a sign from Spirit that you were doing the right thing?
